The Rahma Birth Equity Fund
Because Every Mother Deserves Support
Pregnancy and birth are among the most transformative experiences in a woman’s life. Yet for many families, the support they need during this time remains financially out of reach.
The Rahma Birth Equity Fund was created to help bridge that gap.
Through community donations, this fund helps Muslim families access compassionate, evidence-based, faith-aligned doula support regardless of their financial circumstances.
We believe that no mother should have to navigate pregnancy, labour, birth, or the postpartum period alone simply because she cannot afford support.
Why This Matters
As a birth doula, I have had the privilege of supporting families through some of life’s most vulnerable and meaningful moments.
I’ve also met mothers who desperately wanted support but were forced to go without it because of financial constraints.
Many of these mothers are:
- Newcomers to Canada
- Single mothers
- Families experiencing financial hardship
- Women with limited support systems
- Mothers navigating particularly challenging pregnancies or birth experiences
The reality is that those who often need support the most are sometimes the least able to access it.
The Rahma Birth Equity Fund exists to change that
What Your Donation Supports
Donations may be used to help cover:
- Birth doula support
- Childbirth education
- Birth preparation services
- Postpartum support
- Other perinatal services that improve maternal wellbeing
Every contribution directly supports a mother and her family during pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
How It Works
When donations are received, funds are allocated to eligible families facing financial barriers to care.
Families may receive:
- Full sponsorship
- Partial sponsorship
- Subsidized access to services
Funding decisions are made with care, discretion, and respect for the dignity and privacy of each family.
